Gotta LOVE Tar Heel Women’s Basketball

One of my former players who lives in Kentucky now asked me to send a picture of the award I got from UNC Women’s Basketball coaching staff on awards night. What a great problem to have that I’m not a good enough photographer to get such a beautiful plaque to stop glowing and reflecting so much!!

I’m not even going to pretend that this is a humble brag. I love broadcasting the games so much with Walter Storholt and Debbie Stroman and I thank them for making room for me to spend some games as sideline reporter and others as color commentator. This was a way for me to stay involved in the game while attending graduate school and taking some time to try to move from a great high school coaching career into the college ranks. I never even thought getting an award was a possibility on awards night.  I was just thrilled that the team invited me to celebrate with them and that I was going to get a free dinner at the UNC Alumni Center 🙂

All of the coaching staff have been so supportive as I practice broadcasting and keep my coaching brain active by writing scouting reports and quality control reports in order to spend time needed to learn about coaching on the Division 1 level. I can’t say thank you enough to Sylvia Hatchell, Andrew Calder, Tracey Williams-Johnson, Sylvia Crawley, Greg Law, Billie Lee. But a special thank you goes to Tracey for bringing me into the fold and giving me a chance to stay active in the sport I love the most.

I know that UNC Women’s Basketball is going to have a great year and I look forward to being a part of getting the word out on what a great group of people on the court and on the sidelines they have at UNC.

I also can’t thank Dr. Nicki Moore enough for taking the time to answer some questions for me and to give me some great advice toward working my way into college athletics.
